POSITION DESCRIPTION – COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT ADVISOR
POSITION PURPOSE - Ko te aroka o te tūraka
To ensure that all partnership and engagement activities are undertaken to a high standard, adopting best practice standards for engagement and communication. Actively develop and maintain strong engagement and relationships with the key stakeholders and social services providers. This role will focus on ensuring effective engagement and partnership, community networking and coordination to promote Tirohanga Camp and its offerings.
POSITION OBJECTIVES
To understand and connect with relevant providers/stakeholders in the community, education and health system and wider.
To understand and promote all areas of Tirohanga Camp in partnership and engagement activities.
To effectively engage with providers and camp users to assist them in navigating the running of camps, using the camp facilities and associated activity.
To ensure that providers and users are aware of the values of Tirohanga Camp and “how” these will support and assist them to reach their goals.
KEY RESULT AREAS PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
Engagement Activities
In conjunction with the Camp Manager, develop a robust communication and stakeholder engagement plan.
Plan and manage contact with external stakeholders and community groups.
Work to established connections and relationships into health and social services provider network across the region.
Have a direct understanding of the desires groups want from their camp experience.
An in-depth knowledge of Tirohanga Camp services and can promote and engage groups.
Improvement in how the providers and users can work together and deliver camp experiences.
Communication / Marketing / Presentation
Develop high quality communication material to be published across a range of channels, including on-line, community publications, print media, social media that are well planned, professional, and consistent.
Look for marketing and communication opportunities to new networks, promoting the services that Tirohanga Camp can deliver.
Working Relationships
Works with the Camp Manager with all design and activity ideas to facilitate a joined up delivery to providers and users.
Provides advice and guidance to the Camp Manager on their engagement and communication activities.
Coordination of Deliverables
Connect the camp to new ideas and offerings.
Develops and maintains an in-depth knowledge of the camp and connected education and health programmes.
Design and deliver coordinated camp programmes and activities as part of the developed offering. For example health, wellbeing, educational and/or faith based programmes.
Can network and link providers to expert advice on a range of issues.

Actively engages with the camp’s Trustees on networking and camp activity developments.

To take all practicable steps to ensure personal safety, and the safety of others, while at work, according to the health and safety policy, procedures, and systems.
Takes initiative and identifies, reports, and resolves issues that may cause harm to themselves or others.

Displays cultural sensitivity and a willingness to work positively with all providers and users of Tirohanga Camp.

Undertaking duties from time to time that may be in addition to those outlined above but which fall within your capabilities and experience.
You respond positively to requests for assistance in your own and other areas, demonstrating adaptability and willingness.
You produce work that reflects best practice.
Research undertaken is robust and well considered.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
Qualifications/Experience
Tertiary qualification in a related field such as business, communications / journalism., or five plus years experience in a communications, engagement, networking or coordinator role.
Ideally you will also have the IPA2: Certificate in Engagement.
Be able to work flexibly and travel as required in the region, a full driver’s licence is essential.
Skills
· Be confident in establishing networks and relationships with providers and user groups.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Good levels of computer literacy
· Skills in education and training, design, and delivery – would be preferred.
· A high degree of self-motivation, willingness, and self-responsibility to continually improve.
· Strong time management skills and ability to work calmly during times of pressure.
· Display high levels of professionalism.
· Effective interpersonal skills to establish good relationships with users, families, and colleagues.
· Work independently and where appropriate resolve issues on your own initiative.
Knowledge
· Comprehensive knowledge of partnership and engagement practices, tools and channels.
· Experience working with autonomy.
